Health fair to offer tips

CLINTON — Local residents are invited out to the Wild Rose Casino and Resort on Saturday to learn about area health care providers and the services they offer.

The Health and Wellness Fair, with Mercy Medical Center as the major sponsor, will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the casino’s Grand Ballroom. This is a free event for families, with information about local health providers available, a health screenings showcase, local vendors, games and activities for children, refreshments, door prizes and the chance to talk one on one with local health care providers.

It’s a no-pressure event; vendors will promote wellness in the Clinton area, with a focus on mind, body and soul. There is something for everyone, including healthy eating demonstrations and food sampling.

Something organizers are particularly excited about are the services offered by the Maternal Child and Adolescent Health program. Dental screenings and immediate Medicaid applications, and aid with providers, will be available at this booth.

Planning for the Health and Wellness Fair, by Mercy and the Clinton Herald, started more than a year ago. The event is the first of its kind, with organizers hoping to provide an open door to better health in the community.
