Amy Rademaker, Carle Center for Rural and Farm Safety joins us to talk about the importance of safety both in and out of the fields.

What are the greatest risks this time of the year?

· Tractors

· Grain – falls

· ATV

We know that farmers are chasing the sun a bit, right? Working long hours. What’s the potential for danger there?

· Remember not to put in more hours than you should

· Get rest

· Stay engaged and alert.

One of the most dangerous situations is farm equipment on the roads. How can other travelers help to minimize risks?

· Share the road.

· Be on the lookout for slow-moving vehicles.

o Traveling 50 to 60 miles per hour need at least two football fields to stop
