Stranded hikers found in ‘good health’

Five hikers who got stranded near Cetti Bay in Umatac due to inclement weather Saturday evening were rescued and in “good health,” according to Guam Fire Department spokesperson Cherika Chargualaf.

The hikers, four males and one female between the ages of 20 to 21, made the distress call at about 6:35 p.m. Saturday. Emergency responders located them at approximately 10:47 a.m. Sunday morning.

They were airlifted to U.S. Naval Hospital Guam by the Navy’s Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 for treatment.

According to the National Weather Service, a westward-moving disturbance and surface trough in the region brought increased rain showers and a few thunderstorms through the Marianas over the weekend.
